Overview
Starlight Tales ("we", "us") creates personalized bedtime stories and lets you record narration for your child. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- We collect:
• Account: your email address, used to create and sign in to your account.
• Content you create: child profiles (a name, optional age, and theme preference), recurring characters, generated stories and their cover art, and any narration recordings you make.
• Subscription records: Apple transaction identifiers used to verify your premium subscription.
How we use information
We use your information to generate stories and cover art, save your library, play back your recordings, verify purchases, and keep your data private to your account. We do not sell your information.
Audio recordings
Narration recordings you make are uploaded to private cloud storage and linked to your account — they are not kept only on your device. That is what lets a story you recorded at home play back on your phone while you are away.
Only your account can open your recordings, and they are never shown to other users of the app. If you choose to share a story, the app creates a temporary link that stops working after a short time.
You can delete a recording at any time by re-recording the story or by deleting it from your library.
If you use an AI voice instead, the story text is sent to a speech service to produce the audio. We do not collect or store a voice print or biometric profile of your voice.
Children's privacy
Starlight Tales is intended for parents and caregivers to use with their children. Accounts are created by adults; we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Any child name, age, or profile information is provided by you, the parent, and is stored with your account.
If you believe a child has provided information to us directly, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data sharing & third parties
We use Apple In-App Purchase to process subscriptions, and trusted AI service providers to generate story text, cover art, character portraits, and optional AI narration. For that, the details you enter — such as the child's first name, the chosen theme, and your character descriptions — and your story text are sent to those providers, only to produce the story, artwork, or narration you asked for.
Hosting and storage providers store your data on our behalf.
We do not sell your information, and the app contains no advertising or tracking tools.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time within the app settings, which will promptly remove your profile, library of stories, and all voice recordings from our production servers.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using industry-standard protocols.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can exercise many of these rights directly in the app or by contacting us.
In-app purchases
Payments are handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card or financial details. We only receive a transaction confirmation to enable your premium features.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the new policy.
